Michał Inglot is an independent artist and a professional fish specialist by trade. Creating music in his home studio since the late 1990s, he also performs live with the Hops Band. In 2012, he released the album "Dziwni ci my" ("Strange Are We"), fully crowdfunded by fans via Megatotal.pl. As both a composer and lyricist, Michał rejects imitation. Essentially, everything he creates defies the current trends of the modern music business. For him, music is an escape from daily stress, reinforcing his belief in the vital need to create—both for himself and for others.
By day, he works at the intersection of nature and technology as an ichthyologist; by night, he writes, records, and refines music that speaks in a raw, human voice. This dual path keeps his work grounded and honest.
It all began in the 1990s, driven by an innate need to create—a spark carried from the home of his father, painter Edward Inglot. Choosing a three-string guitar over paintbrushes, dressed in combat boots, a leather jacket, and a mohawk, Michał set off on a musical journey that continues to this day. This distant beginning was crucial for shaping his unique musical sensibility and searching for the unseen—explaining his strong reluctance to play cover songs.
Despite encouragement to study music formally, he deliberately chose Aquaculture and Fisheries Science, keeping music in the realm of passion and independence. Professionally, he works across artificial fish reproduction, RAS (Recirculating Aquaculture Systems), and aquaponics, while still joining traditional autumn pond harvests. Parallel to this, music walked beside him like a faithful dog.
In 2012, he released his first fully original album, "Dziwni ci my" (Strange Are We), recorded at the Klinika Muzyka Studio in Łódź. The warmly received five-track record aired on Radio Katowice, strengthening his resolve to follow an evocative, raw creative path.
Originality First
Michał Inglot writes and records to discover what he has not yet heard from himself. He avoids imitation and formula, favoring folk/rock textures—acoustic guitars, unvarnished vocals, and honest lyrics. His studio process balances intuition with craft: capturing the spark, then refining without sanding off the edges.
Why He Creates
Music is a kind of refuge from daily stress, a space to be present and generous. That purpose naturally extends to listeners: songs are made to be lived with—at home, on the road, and on stage.
Live, Michał performs with the Hops Band—intimate, acoustic-forward sets that leave room for improvisation and audience connection.
